What is a Personal Year Number?
Your Personal Year Number is a single number that describes the energy and themes of your current calendar year, what you're meant to focus on, what challenges you'll face, and what the universe is supporting. It's calculated fresh every year from your birth month, birth day, and the current calendar year.
Unlike your Life Path Number or Expression Number (which are fixed from birth), your Personal Year changes every calendar year. It moves through a 9-year cycle where each number has its own energy and lessons. Year 1 is always about new beginnings. Year 9 is always about completion. And everything in between has its own specific frequency.
Think of it less like a prediction and more like a weather forecast. The Personal Year shows you what climate you're moving through, and that information helps you dress right, plan your year, and know what to expect.
How to calculate your Personal Year
The formula is simple: Add your birth month + birth day + the current calendar year. Then reduce to a single digit (or keep 11, 22, 33 if you land there, those are master numbers and aren't reduced further).
The formula
Birth month + Birth day + Current calendar year = Total
Then reduce the total by adding its digits together until you get a single digit. If you land on 11, 22, or 33 on the first reduction, stop. Don't reduce further.
Worked example
The 9-year cycle
Your Personal Year moves through a 9-year cycle that begins in PY1 (new beginnings) and ends in PY9 (completion). Then it starts over. Each number has a specific energy and a specific job to do.
This cycle is consistent for everyone. Year 1 is always about initiative. Year 5 is always about change. The number doesn't care whether you're ready for what it's asking. It's asking anyway. Your job is to understand what energy you're moving through and work with it instead of fighting it.
